"We always enjoy the food during our many visits. Tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas and more have all been good. The verde and habanero sauces make a nice complement to the standard red sauce. $9 for the medium margarita is a fair price. Good option on the northwest side."

"I was in town for the state fair and stopped here for dinner. The refried beans were runny but they were flavourful. The chicken was soft and delicious, as was the pork. The drinks however, very good! You only need one large one. Lol. I noticed there are some bad reviews on here but the restaurant was rather crowded so it can't be all that horrible? On a side note, if you're into old homes or buildings, this is an interesting place. Definitely would love to come back again."

"The food was good. The atmosphere was unique and cute. They didn't refill our drinks. Few staff who spoke no English. Hard to ask or communicate. Ordered the mixed meat fajita meal. Ordered extra steak meat. Had more chicken then steak. I did kindly ask if they had added extra steak n they said yes. Did not look like it but it is ehst it is."

"1st time here and was very impressed. Great food, excellent service, clean, awesome older building and a vast amount of menu choices. Prices were a bit higher than many other Mexican restaurants I frequent but I wouldn't let that stop me from going back. Seems prices are going up rapidly wherever I look these days. Thanks to Groupon for putting this restaurant on my radar. They also display an "A" rating at the entry way, always good to see."

"Excellent drink specials...my friends and I especially love the buy one get one $5 margaritas on Thursdays. Convenient location and it saves me a trip from having to go downtown. The food is great and the bartender Arnold is awesome! Neighborhood friendly business....it's worth the try!"

"My weekend foodie plans with my dad took us to his favorite Mexican restaurant, El Tenampa. Now I have had some good Mexican food in my time, but this place has solidified it's place as number one in my book! To start they brought out some very nicely warmed tortilla chips and a red salsa The chips were perfectly thin, crispy and warm. The salsa had a wonderful mild flavor. We asked for an additionally spicy version and were brought a Verde salsa that was a perfect blend of pepper and citrus flavors. I ordered the seafood burrito and two side tacos (shredded beef and pork) on corn tortillas with onion and cilantro. While my dad orderd Chile rellenos with steak, beef mole enchilada and a beef tostada. (Pictures of all are attached). My seafood burrito was absolutely loaded with shrimp and crab with a smooth cheesy sauce on top as well as inside. Accompanied with refried beans and rice. I kid you not, this was the best refried beans and rice side I have ever had at a restaurant. The pork and shredded beef tacos paired well with the Verde salsa making a wonderful combination of flavor. Now dad absolutely loved his chili relenos with steak. The plate was loaded with toppings and meat. The beef mole enchilada although a smaller side version was big on flavor. Nice smoky mole with cheese and sour cream. Finally the tostada was crispy and again loaded with toppings. I was starving walking in and left stuffed with box for later to boot. Hidden gem on Milwaukee's north side. There is Mexican food and then there is the food at El Tenampa, the absolute epitomy of wonderful Mexican food a head above the rest!!! Highly recommend!!!"

"This was our first time eating here and it was clean friendly staff food was hot n fresh. Will definitely visit again. The margaritas was good and tasty. Nice for the price."
